Mountain flight from Nepal/Kathmandu to Lukla

Due to traffic congestion at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), flights from Kathmandu to Lukla may be rerouted to Manthali-Lukla during the busiest trekking seasons (March, April, May, October, and November). Manthali is approximately five hours away. Consequently, we will drive to Manthali Airport at around 12:30 am to pick you up from your hotel and take you on a 20-minute flight to Lukla. In January, February, June, July, August, September, and December, there is a direct 40-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla during other seasons. You can expect our guide to pick you up at your hotel at around 5 am and drive you to TIA in time for your early flight to Lukla.

Flight Back to Kathmandu/Manthali

Your flight from Lukla may be redirected to Manthali instead of Kathmandu during the busiest trekking months (March, April, May, October, and November). From Manthali, we will transport you back to Kathmandu. You will take a flight from Lukla to Kathmandu in the remaining months (January, February, June, July, August, September, and December).

Most Popular Treks in Nepal

Here are our seasonal trek recommendations to help you choose your perfect trek.

Spring Season (March, April, and May)

In Nepal, springtime is the ideal time to go hiking and trekking. This is the best time of year for climbing and trekking. Trekking at higher altitudes becomes more enjoyable and thrilling during the spring when a diverse range of wildflowers bloom above an elevation of 3000 meters. At lower levels, the weather is somewhat warm; at higher elevations beyond 4000m, the temperature is very moderate, offering wonderful and stunning views of the mountains. In Nepal, the ideal months to go trekking are thought to be March, April, and May.

Monsoon (Summer) Season (June, July, and August)

In Nepal, the monsoon, or summer, season begins at the end of May and lasts until the end of August. Trekking is not recommended during the monsoon season due to excessive rainfall. However, the monsoon season is perfect for travel to Tibet, Bhutan, and some regions that connect Tibet with rain shadow regions, such as the Dolpo Region, the Nar-Phu Valley, and the Upper Mustang Trek.

Autumn Season (September, October, and November)

With its bright skies and exceptionally pleasant weather, autumn is Nepal's best trekking season. Mid-September is when the season begins, and it lasts until late November. In Nepal, autumn is the ideal season for adventurous trekking.

Trekking in Nepal offers great weather and breathtaking views of the mountains in the autumn. During this season, Green Valley Nepal Treks offers treks, adventures, and peak climbing to any part of Nepal. It's the perfect time of year for any hiking or excursion in Nepal because of the temperate temperature. The vistas are magnificent and the sky is usually clear. Periodically, brief storms may drop a significant amount of snow at high elevations.

Winter Season (December, January, and February)

The winter months in Nepal are December, January, and February. In the mountains, these months are very chilly, with clear afternoons but hazy mornings and evenings. At higher elevations, there is a greater chance of snowfall, strong winds, and lower temperatures. If you want to travel in lower elevations and find suitable and amazing landscapes, winter is the perfect season.
